Baby #3 in the Amazon Era: “Oops, I’ll Just Prime It.”
Third baby in, you’d think I’d have this whole newborn prep thing down. You’d think I’d have bins neatly labeled from my first two boys—burp cloths here, swaddles there, postpartum sanity savers over yonder. And sure, I did keep some things. But as it turns out, welcoming a baby in today’s world of “add to cart” and “double click to buy” is an entirely new level of convenient chaos.

Because here’s the truth: After six years in between kiddos & moving last year, I definitely got rid of a lot of things & had to “re-stock” a lot of everyday items. And even though I tried to get everything I REALLY NEEDED, I knew if I didn’t have enough of something there was no need to panic. I would just prime. One-click to the rescue, over and over again.
Here’s a little roundup of what I found myself ordering in this hazy, sleep-deprived, snuggle-filled first week home with baby #3:
1. Burp Cloths: A Crisis in Cotton
Apparently, burp cloths evaporate between babies (aka end up getting donated/tossed) because I didn’t see the need to keep a few crusty ones in a drawer. 😆 Initially I realized we just had one new one & I was using hand towels when I realized meh these just aren’t quite cute and decided I needed reinforcements.

Solution: These organic muslin burp cloths are super soft and thick—and they don’t scream “hand-me-down.” I ordered them while nursing with one hand ✅
2. Swaddle Blankets (Because the Ones You Have Are Never Clean)
I thought I had enough swaddles. But either I didn’t, or I underestimated how many I like having in the house, car, diaper bag, stroller etc.

Solution: These muslin swaddle blankets are oversized, breathable, and double as stroller covers, changing mats, and emergency nursing shields. I bought a second pack two days in.
3. Nightlights for Midnight Everything
I never realized how often I’d be pacing, feeding, or just staring at my baby’s face at 3 AM—until I remembered we only had one dim nightlight from the last baby.

Solution: This dimmable LED plug-in pack is a small but mighty upgrade. You can adjust the brightness so you’re not blinded but still functional.
4. Postpartum Recovery Isn’t Just Padsicles
This time around, I was all about actual recovery. Not just surviving. I needed some soothing in between the chaos.

Solution: Amazon Basics Epsom salt soak to the rescue. I barely have time for a full bath and hadn’t taken one since we moved so I was exited to finally get in our soaker tub post partum. This is a great way to reduce swelling and help your body recover.
5. Baby Car Mirror: Must-See TV (aka My Baby’s Face)
Somehow we didn’t keep our old car mirror, or maybe it just wasn’t up to snuff anymore. Either way, I needed to see that little face while driving.

Solution: This baby car mirror gives a full view and doesn’t shake around like a GoPro on a roller coaster.
6. White Noise, Because Silence Is Suspicious
Every baby gets their own sound machine now, apparently. My older kids claimed the ones from baby #1 and #2.

Solution: This Momcozy sound machine is sleek, portable, and gives me the precious white noise buffer between baby and brothers.
7. Tiny Baby NBA Gear, Because Priorities
I definitely didn’t need this—but when your husband is a Timberwolves fan (they’re currently in the NBA playoffs) and you’re scrolling Amazon at 1 AM with a newborn on your chest, this little NBA onesie suddenly feels like a must-have.

The Takeaway?
Having a baby in the Amazon era is equal parts lifesaving and dangerous. I can meet my needs and indulge a little, all before the next feeding. While I’m a big fan of preparation, there’s something comforting in knowing I can still forget things and be okay—because there’s a brown box coming to the porch tomorrow (or tonight, if I’m really lucky).
So here’s to baby #3, the magical era of same-day delivery, and being gentle with ourselves when the third time around is still just as messy and beautiful as the first.
