Ninja Turtle Party

Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo are the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, trained in the art of ninjutsu by a wise rat sensei they call Master Splinter…

We celebrated Drake and Cortlan’s birthdays this weekend with a Ninja Turtle themed party and I just wanted to share the idea and photos of the food LOL.

It’s actually pretty do-able to prep this yourself (fruit and veggie trays). Keep in mind the smaller the platter plate, the easier it is in terms of building them out.

Here’s what you need:

All of the turtle ‘eyes’ were plastic sauce cups filled with ranch and used a black olive for the pupils

Raphael (Red) Veggie Tray
Cherry Tomatoes
Broccoli Florets
Black Olives

Donatello (Purple) Fruit Tray
Purple Grapes
Green Grapes
Black Olives

Leonardo (Blue) Fruit & Veggie Tray
Black Olives

Michelangelo (Orange) Veggie Tray
Celery Sticks
Black Olives

What if you brought every veggie tray to a party looking like this?

Then we also had a fruit tray and a small watermelon was decorated as a turtle head. The bandana was blue duct tape and then fake eyes that you can get at Hobby Lobby or any craft store were stuck on the tape.

Another easy idea – deviled eggs. Use avocado to make the filling ‘green’ and then they look like turtle shells. Kind of.

I didn’t get a photo of this, but for our ‘main course’ we served, of course, PIZZA, since this is a Ninja Turtle’s favorite meal. Keep it simple and order from your favorite pizza place, or you could always buy mini crusts and for a 5-year old birthday party it would be fun for kiddos to make them if you had a good set up.

Our cakes were from Creme Cupcake in Des Moines. Cortlan’s smash cake was shaped as a turtle egg, and Drake’s cake was the pinata type that explodes with sprinkles when you cut in to it.

Decorations for a ninja turtle party can be found on Amazon – this kit included plates, napkins, table covers, balloons, and decorations.

And for you millennials that remember the cartoon Ninja Turtles of the 90s, I found that special theme song for you to enjoy here:
