It’s April: Winter is Coming

It’s April – which means WINTER ❄️ IS COMING!!!

For real 😳 though was it 43 degrees yesterday in Iowa? Yes 🤦🏼‍♀️… Anyways here’s some #tbt pics of when my hair was platinum AF ice blonde 👱🏻‍♀️, inspired of course by the Game of Thrones goddess, princess, queen of dragons etc. Daenerys Targaryen. 🐉 With the new & final, FINAL season starting Sunday I have a feeling there’s going to be an ice blonde revival once again. However, for all I know the show will probably start with her hair dyed black and she’ll be killed off in the first episode.

When I went this platinum I loved it, and my advice if you’re looking to go this ICY that you consider the following things:

This is a true bleach and tone process. Have a professional do this. This is NEVER, EVER supposed to be done at home and certainly will not happen with a ‘box color’

Make sure your hair stylist is not a “YES PERSON”, meaning they won’t BS you in to thinking this is always possible. A professional won’t be afraid to tell you that depending on your situation (level of color, previous work) that it may take several sessions to get that light. Even then, your hair may not be cut out for it, and you want to be able to work with someone who can be straightforward with you about it. Hair damage and breakage is real people, so you need someone who is transparent.

Maintenance – this would be considered for some a “high maintenance” color. By that I mean you can expect to visit the salon every 3-4 weeks to either tone your current color or bleach the new growth to match. Your at home care is important too, you’ll be using a purple shampoo to help fight yellow/brass. Everyone’s hair wants to turn back to YELLOW, so you have to add back in purple tones to counter it.

The Game of Thrones, gorgeous, beautiful blonde that character Daenerys Targaryen sports IS A WIG. And extensions. A beautiful, expensive, WIG. And apparently there are several of them and they all have names. Ok? I enjoy watching the show in part because the hair and makeup is so fabulous, but recognize that, just like 🐉 Dragons, that isn’t her “real” hair.

Hair color is awesome 😎 because YOU CAN CHANGE IT. That’s what makes it fun. If you haven’t gone platinum, and want to play, try it.
