Honey Hues

I love being able to create the ‘new and natural’ look on a client. Adding in dimension with blonde, honey toned tips brightens up her color but still looks natural and sunkissed. This is the type of color that you can easily go 3 or more months in between appointments if you like your new growth because the blend won’t have any harsh lines. 🙂

Bronde Balayage

“Bronde” and “Balayage” – ok spellcheck with tell you that neither is a real word in the English language but these are the terms you need to use if you want a hair color like the one below. Unless your hairstylist lives under a rock, they should know what you’re trying to achieve. And take this picture with you too.
Color by Lauren Caleb (yes I totally just referenced myself in the 3rd person).

Beige & Bronde

Virgin hair. Hair in it’s ‘purest’ form can be great, however, for a hair stylist it is a blank canvas that we cannot wait to paint it pretty. This client’s mane hadn’t seen any sort of chemical processing or color in over five years and she was ready to brighten things up. In order to transition her to a lighter color without over-processing or anything too drastic, I went with the balayage technique to make the newer blonde pieces look really blended and sunkissed. We ended up with a beautiful bronde color with beige tones.

Before & After: My First Highlight

So it’s been a hot minute (almost two years?!) since my last post on the heavily trafficked (sarcasm font, should be obvious) LaurenCaleb.com website. I know this site has been sitting here but I couldn’t justify a reason to consistently post without it feeling forced, therefore I didn’t. To bring you up to speed, I am currently studying cosmetology at the Aveda Institute in West Des Moines, Iowa. This journey has been a long time coming for me, and a license in cosmetology will help me to futher my long term goals of salon/spa ownership in addition to product and brand development. More on that to come in future posts, but first things first…

These before and after photos are of my very first partial highlight I did on a guest in May 2016. I focused on highlighting her new growth and pulled down Aveda Enlightener on strands that were darker, kicking out any already blonde/processed ends. The result was a nice refresh and an overall bronde, sunkissed shade. The coverage was great for it just being a partial highlight!

So there ya have it folks, my ‘first highlight’ and first hair post with many more to come! And by the way I am totally still leaving up my outfit posts from two years ago. I still want and shamelessly like these outfits LOL. That’s just my style!
